BEST UP SNOWMOBILING GROUPS and SITES

LOCAL GROOMERS (for precise and up-to-date local trail reports)

These folks are volunteers and work extremely hard to keep the trails in the Central UP cleaned up for great riding. If you ride, you know how important groomers are to your experience! Here's our local groups to join and support them:

THE UP SNOWMOBILE MUSEUM

If you're interested in snowmobiling, this is worth a visit! It's just about 30 minutes from the resort and a great place run by great people with all you've ever wanted to know about snowmobiling and its history.

MICHIGAN SNOWMOBILE TRAIL PERMITS

Resident and nonresidents of Michigan that operate snowmobiles on public land in Michigan are required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails, public roads and public lands (where authorized).

From 2021 - 2026 trail permits are $52 each. They are valid from Oct 1 - Sept 30 each year. State-designated trails are open Dec 1 - March 31.

The map on the right shows two ways to access Trail 43 via Curtis Road (blue lines) from the resort.

Note the YELLOW dot on the first maps marks an access point that many people use, but it's a little harder to find and utilizes some private property.
